Why Fall (and Double-Dipped Caramel Apples) Mean So Much to Me

Why Fall (and Double-Dipped Caramel Apples) Mean So Much to Me

This time of year is my absolute favorite — and it’s not just because of the pumpkins, sweaters, and crisp Iowa air. Fall is the season that brought me to Lillie Mae Chocolates.

I always knew Lillie Mae was special, but I didn’t realize just how much I loved it until I was pregnant with Spencer. At the time, I had my own company, Peachtree Marketing, located across the street in the Tremont Building. Every single day during caramel apple season, I would walk over to Lillie Mae and eat a caramel apple for lunch.

I was absolutely obsessed!

If you’ve ever had one of our caramel apples, you know why. That luscious, buttery caramel, made with fresh Iowa cream and butter, in our secret recipe - that is double-dipped with crisp, tart Jonathan apples from Hingardners Orchard… it’s a combination that’s truly indescribable. Fun fact - we have been buying from them for over 30+ years. The balance of sweet and tart, rich and fresh, makes it unlike anything else.

Why Caramel Apples Still Have My Heart

Even now, all these years later, caramel apple season takes me right back to those days. It reminds me why I fell in love with Lillie Mae in the first place.

That’s why fall will always be one of my favorite times of year. For me, it’s not just the start of a new season — it’s the season of caramel apples.

Don’t Miss Out

Our caramel apples are only available until October 31st available at both stores. If you’ve never tried one, now’s the time. And if you have, you know why customers come back year after year for that perfect fall treat.

We can’t wait to see you in the candy store this season — and we can’t wait for you to fall in love with caramel apples just like I did.
